Gabrielle Sander - freelance journalist and copywriter
Eating chicken feet in the world’s cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant (Tim Ho Wan, Hong Kong), snorkelling with whale sharks in the Maldives, and quad-biking in Iceland, are among my most memorable assignments to date. In 15 years of freelance writing, there have been countless pinch me times, and others where I'd rather have been anywhere else in that moment (I'm talking about you, 'stinky tofu' - although you did provide good copy).
Hello, I am Gabrielle and I am in my element when adventuring to somewhere new; discovering hidden streets, local flavours, sights off the beaten track... It's this colour and joy of the little things that I try to weave into my work (or bombard my Instagram feed with). I was born in Cornwall (Penzance), brought up in Wales, and lived/worked in France and Bournemouth, before settling into London in 2007. If I'm not away, I am planning my next getaway.
When I'm not travelling, I love exploring London, both for work and pleasure, and experimenting with my own food and drink recipes. Fun fact: I was the inaugural winner of the Bird's Eye Fish Finger Sandwich Awards in 2017 (the gold sandwich trophy sits pride of place on my cookbook shelf).
I have been published in the Telegraph, Food and Travel magazine, the Arbuturian (former Travel Editor), the Independent, Forbes Travel Guide, Running in Heels (former Travel Editor), Cosmopolitan, Fabulous, Glass Magazine, Glam.com, Dorset Magazine, Lovefood.com… A three-time judge for the Great Taste Awards, and delivered copywriting for brands including O2/Blackberry.
Here you'll find a mix of published work, travel tips, recipes and general musings.
