Cocktail recipe: Blood Orange and Mezcal
Updated: Aug 2, 2019
My birthday month coincides with the blood orange season, and this super sweet variety of the citrus fruit tastes as good as it looks in a cocktail. Here's but one of the ways I like to mix it.
Ingredients for one
75ml freshly squeezed blood orange juice
50ml gin (Mezcal is a super alternative; the smoky tequila a lovely contrast to the sweet orange)
Couple of good dashes of orange bitters
Handful of ice cubes
Orange wedge to garnish
Fill a tumbler with ice.
Pour in the orange, bitters and gin (I do the gin last, as alcohol speeds up ice melting).
Add the wedge.
